Dublin Airport Flight Simulator

An announcement made yesterday confirmed Dublin Airport as the location for a new flight simulator which will be used to train pilots worldwide.

The plan means a several million Euro investment by the company Simtech who will begin work on the first ever Aviation Centre of Excellence in Ireland.  The centre will be located close to the Airport.

Simtech employs twenty four people at present. The company offers aviation flight simulation and training for major airlines such as Tiger Airways, Aer Arann and CityJet as well as for helicopter businesses.

Over the next five years it is expected that sixteen jobs will be created. Speaking on behalf of Simtech Fergal Keogh stated that the move shows much confidence in Ireland as an aviation training base.

Beleaguered Irish Taoiseach Brian Cowen was on hand at the Dublin Airport Logistics Park to take part in a tree planting ceremony to mark the occasion. The news provides a much needed boost for the Irish economy.
